For as long as I can remember, I have been exposed to unique ideas and was always encouraged to use my imagination and share those ideas with others. Whenever I came home from school, I felt a sense of freedom where I had the ability to manifest ideas inside my head and turn them into something that was entirely my own. In the mind of my eight year old self, a glue stick was my magic wand and my canvas was any flat surface I could find. Endorphins pumped through my body from the mere thought of opening the french doors to my living room closet. The shelves were lined with endless stacks of construction paper, jars of paint, glitter, neon colored feathers, artificial flowers, ceramic glass, braided spools of yarn and string; this closet was stocked with everything my little heart desired. Once my my hands were aching and covered in paint, I knew that I had created a masterpiece.
Ten years later, I have graduated from the museum on my refrigerator and onto digital platforms such as Pinterest, Tumblr, Instagram, and Facebook. Although my interests no longer include craft glitter and macaroni necklaces, my passion remains the same.
It’s nearly impossible for me to confine my interests into the same category. I’m curious about art, the position of the stars, and what makes the ocean so blue. In order to write something original, I have to remind myself that the subject matter does not have to be limited by words and pictures on a page. With access to an online community, I have the ability to inspire and be inspired by others across the globe. Creating a digital based platform means that I am capable of influencing the opinion of someone from a different country. It excites me that I can be in control of the content I am publishing as well as using technology to hear a different voice and establish a mutual connection. Ultimately, sharing opinions and talking about things that excite me are what I hope to come across during my blogging journey.
YouTube is arguably my favorite platform of social media. Not only does it provide access to a broad spectrum of entertaining videos, but it also shares the voices of individuals who create content that has the capacity to generate one small idea and directly impact the life of another. There are YouTube personalities that start out making videos as a hobby, and eventually develop a large enough following to make it their career. Some of the world’s largest music stars such as Justin Bieber, Cody Simpson, and 5 Seconds of Summer are among many other artists that started out just as average musicians who enjoyed recording and posting videos of themselves online.
Some things that I plan on writing about are beauty, fashion, and lifestyle. I follow these kinds of blogs and I love to look into their own personal lives through their photos. It fascinates me how people have their own individual and unique style of their own. The cosmetics industry is always coming out with something new, and I love how there is always a new product launch to look forward to. People use social media as a way to share their own opinions and views on things such as products, and I follow people that I feel like I can trust because of their honesty. With that being said, I hope to do the same thing with my blog. If something catches my eye and I feel compelled to share my opinion to the world, I am going to be nothing short of honest.
